Using Text Analysis

InsightEmbed's text analysis feature allows website visitors to select and analyze text content on your website. This guide explains how to use this core functionality.

How Text Analysis Works

The text analysis feature uses OpenAI's GPT models to provide insights, explanations, summaries, and other analyses of text content. When a visitor selects text on your website, the InsightEmbed widget offers them the option to analyze that text in various ways.

Analyzing Text Content

For Website Visitors

1. Select Text: Click and drag to select any text on the webpage
2. Open Widget: The InsightEmbed widget will automatically appear near the selection
3. Choose Analysis Type: Select from available analysis options (e.g., "Explain", "Summarize", "Simplify")
4. View Results: The analysis will appear in the widget panel
5. Copy or Share: Options to copy the analysis or share it are available

For Website Owners

As the website owner, you can configure various aspects of the text analysis feature:

1. Custom Prompts: Create specific analysis types tailored to your content
2. Default Analysis: Set the default analysis type when a user selects text
3. Analysis Depth: Configure how detailed the analyses should be
4. Context Settings: Provide context about your website to improve analysis relevance

Analysis Types

InsightEmbed offers several pre-configured analysis types:

Explain

Provides a clear explanation of the selected text, particularly useful for technical or complex content.

Creating Custom Analysis Types

1. Log in to your InsightEmbed dashboard
2. Navigate to "Widget Configuration" > "Analysis Types"
3. Click "Add Custom Analysis"
4. Provide a name for your analysis type (e.g., "Technical Review")
5. Create a prompt template that will guide the AI
6. Save your custom analysis type

Explain the legal implications of the selected text in simple terms that a non-lawyer would understand.

For an Educational Website:

Context-Aware Analysis

InsightEmbed can use the surrounding content on the page to provide more relevant analysis. This feature is enabled by default but can be configured in your dashboard.

Visitors can access their recent analyses through the widget's history feature, allowing them to refer back to previous insights.
